In the past few years I have made several visits to schools, libraries, book festivals, and bookstores around the country. To inquire about a visit, please email me at webmaster@pixietricks.com.
BOOKSTORE APPEARANCES
My current presentation involves a fun talk about fairy creatures in folklore and literature and a fairy craft workshop followed by a book signing. The presentation is tailored for both girls and boys and can be tied in to a fantasy or magical theme.
SCHOOL AND LIBRARY PRESENTATIONS
I give three types of presentations. For Grades 1-3, I talk about fairies in folkore and literature and how they inspired the creation of the Pixie Tricks series. Then I discuss the process of writing a Pixie Tricks book, including idea, outline, and first draft. For Grades 3-5, I discuss the different types of books I have written in my career as a childrens book author. In the discussion I talk about story elements as well as the writing process. For a mixed-age audience, I do a fun presentation entitled Strange Creatures, in which I talk about different creatures from folklore and fantasy and how they have inspired my books.
All types of presentations take about 45 minutes-1 hour. I require an overhead projector for each presentation.
FEES
My current policy is provide visits for a small fee for local visits in the New York metropolitan area. This includes Northern and Central New Jersey; the five boroughs of New York City; Rockland, Westchester, and Orange counties in New York state; and southern Connecticut. Visits outside this area are subject to a larger fee and travel expenses. Please contact me for more details.
